Vulture-Unmanned Aircraft

Vulture is the most recent invention of the world. This unmanned aircraft, developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), has the ability to stay in the air for log periods such as that of 5 years. The aircraft will be known as Vulture, due to its Persistent Pseudo-satellite capability. So, the aircraft can fly over an area for years of time, performing the tasks of communication or analysis.
This project is carried out in the supervision of Daniel Newman. The idea is to develop a pseudo-satellite aircraft that has the ability to hover over the earth in stratosphere. Satellites have a specific orbital mechanism that enable these to stay in space for a long period of time, without any aid. Aircraft does not possess this capability, so it has to be powered up regularly in order to stay in air. This aircraft will use a phenomenon partially similar to that of a satellite, to help itself stay above the ground for such a long duration.
The project is facing some problems of supplying the power supply to the aircraft and the deterioration of the materials due to stratospheric effect. These problems are expected to be solved in near future.
